How do I become a member?
Becoming a member of Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church happens one of three ways:

1
Baptism
When you get baptized in our church, you are primarily making your faith in Jesus public. You're letting everyone present know that you've decided to follow Jesus. Typically, you first let one of our pastors know your decision. Baptism isn't something we rush into so that pastor or another will talk with you to get to know you (if they don't already) and to talk with you about your decision. If, together, you decide that you'd like to study more about Jesus before getting baptized, that can be arranged. Otherwise, a date can be set for your baptism. Once you're baptized, we'll now think of you as a Seventh-day Adventist. So keep that in mind. If you don't want to be a Seventh-day Adventist but still want to be baptized, be sure to talk with a pastor about that.

2
Profession of Faith
Another way to become a member of TPC is that we vote you in by what we call profession of faith. For those who have already been baptized by immersion in another Christian church, you don't have to get baptized again. After your conversation with a pastor, we'll reserve a time during our Sabbath morning service when you'll come to the front, a pastor will ask you three questions that the pastor has already discussed with you and knows you agree to. Once you agree to it publically, we'll vote you in as a member right then during the service. Once you join by profession of faith, we'll now think of you as a Seventh-day Adventist. So keep that in mind. If you don't want to be a Seventh-day Adventist but still want to be baptized, be sure to talk with the pastor about that.

3
Membership Transfer
If you are already a member of a Seventh-day Adventist church, you can become a member of TPC by transferring your membership from your church to ours. For this step, you'll need to talk with our church clerk. Our clerk will need to know the name of the church where your membership is currently. Once the clerk has all the information needed, they'll reach out to your church and get the process started. Email our clerk at churchclerk@thetpchurch.org
