UMass Amherst Sociologist David Cort to Lead Monthly Discussions on Christian Nationalism and Civic Response

This summer the Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church (TPC) will host monthly lunch-and-learn lectures led by David Cort, PhD and Chair of the Sociology Department at UMass Amherst. The lectures, open to the public, will explore the history and motivations behind the current federal administration’s agenda, Project 2025. Each session will also consider important historical contexts, theological insights, and practical community responses. The meetings will be held on the Saturdays of May 24, June 14, and July 19 at 1:30 PM in the Keystone Room at 6810 Eastern Ave NW. The sessions aim to offer a Christian theological critique of Christian Nationalism and help build civic engagement through community dialogue.
