Family Spotlight: The Veloo/Arason Family

MikhailFamily Life, Family Spotlight

Nesamalar (Malar) Veloo and Immanuel Arason married in 2019 and are blessed to enjoy their blended family including their two amazing children. Both were born in Sri Lanka but met in a different timeline in life. Malar was born and raised in Matale, Sri Lanka, from where she relocated to the U.S. in 2005 to work and start her career as a Caregiver. In 2011 her two wonderful children Jonathan and Joshua joined her in the U.S. and have since become citizens.

Malar grew up in the Catholic faith. She became a Seventh-day Adventist in 2010 and was baptized in the Jordan River, in Israel. She served as a deaconess at Takoma Park from 2011 to 2018. She always loves to help people, laugh, and spend good moments with the other members of the church. She would not want to be anywhere else than Takoma Park Church because she has a special connection with them because of her love of Christ.

Immanuel was born in Sri Lanka and Grew up in India. He was a pastor at a young age sharing the love and the spirit of Christ. He came to the U.S. to study Christianity and to live his life. He met Malar in 2008 and they both had a strong connection to helping people. They created a bond for so long that after 11 years, they got married. They both support orphanages in Sri Lanka by sending food and clothes. They do this with the support of family members in Sri Lanka. Malar states that Immanuel has been the most supportive person to her since day one. In 2016 Immanuel lost his kidneys which was a very challenging process. Since then, he has trusted God to make him a better and greater person every single day. We pray that one day he will get a kidney and will recover his health. He has been to the hospital more than 20 times and still perseveres each day. He never lets his weakness control him, he always fought against his weakness to prove that it is God’s strength that keeps him strong and alive today. He is beyond blessed to have Malar right next to him caring for him.

Their children are Jonathan (22) and Joshua (19). Jonathan attended Montgomery College where he received his certification in IT. He is currently pursuing a career in cybersecurity. Joshua is currently attending Montgomery College and studying Mechanical Engineering. He is also an Assistant Youth Director here at TPC.

Jonathan and Joshua are smart, courageous, and loveable, and love to help each other and especially other people. God is providing them with paths that will be for the greater good in the future.

God has provided beyond what our family needed in life and we are very grateful. Family is one of God’s masterpieces and it will never change. Our family has blessed many people by helping and providing goods to people who are in need.

Malar celebrated her 50th birthday on February 28 and has been waiting for this day since she was little, and was one of the happiest days in her life. Malar and Immanuel worked very hard to bring their children to the U.S. and have accomplished many things they never thought would be possible. Our family is beyond blessed and we will forever be grateful to God. It’s a blessing to do God’s work.

Our family is blessed to have a second home in Takoma Park SDA Church, and we are excited to share our love of the Lord with our church family.
