Burgers and hot dogs sizzled on the grill as people piled potato salad, corn on the cob, and samosas on their plates. The festivities for the Takoma Park Church picnic included good food, music and fellowship at Wheaton Regional Park in Silver Spring. Not even rain, which tried its best to soak the saints, could dampen the outlook for those in attendance. They simply drew closer together and laughed at the predicament. One child even turned the rain into a game, as only a child’s mind can conjure, catching rain drops falling from the roof of the picnic shelter onto his paper plate.
