Ministries for Adults

Sabbath School

Every Saturday morning at 9:20 am, we gather together for First Light, a special program that invites Bible study and Bible inquiry. We have several classes, each slightly different, located throughout the Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church. There is bound to be a class you will think was tailored made for you.

In addition to a lively study hour, another thing that will intrigue you about First Light will be the class service projects. Each class has a project that helps our community in some way.  These engaging projects run the gamut, and there is one that will surely interest you.  Between the Bible study and working together to help others, you may notice that you will have developed close friendships with the people in your class.  In fact, if this were "Oprah" or "Dr. Phil," We would probably use the word, "bond."  But what we are talking about is what has been seen first hand; true and caring friendships.

Our church wants to offer you a hearty invitation to visit First Light.  Once you spend some time with us, we're sure you will agree that visiting First Light is one of the best decisions you made this year!

Women's Ministry

This ministry was started by women that identified a need to offer spiritual nurturing for the entire congregation, as well as the Takoma Park community at-large.  As a consequence, this ministry has grown to fill several needs: Reach out to women who, for whatever reason, no longer attend this church or any other church. This mission is called the "Heart Call".

Other programs include Sunday afternoon teas, prayer breakfasts, and an annual women’s ministries day program.  This year the team participated in the first Takoma Park Church Black History month celebration.

This is also a service organization, providing support for the Takoma Park Firefighters and Police officers.  The ministry visits and provides care for the sick and shut-in.  A newly developed special program is the “Card Ministry”.  Cards are sent to fellow Church members for birthdays, encouragement, sympathy and for various other reasons and occasions. The goal is to make sure that no one at this Church feels left out or discounted.

Takoma Park Church is blessed to have a great team, but can always use your help. Anyone interested can contact the coordinator.
